For residents on the lookout for a new job, last week’s snow and ice was not good news. However, after the West Michigan Works! service centers, including the one in Muskegon, were forced to close because of extreme weather, the organization is extending its hours over the next couple of days to accommodate job seekers unable to access services last week.
The West Michigan Works! service center at 316 Morris Ave. in Muskegon will be open from 8am to 7pm on Tuesday, Feb. 5 and Wednesday, Feb. 6. The center includes computers and staff who are available to assist with job searches.
Service centers in Allegan, Barry, Ionia, Kent, Montcalm, and Ottawa counties too will offer extended hours.
“The safety of our staff and clients is always our first concern,” Angie Barksdale, chief operating officer of West Michigan Works!, said in a press release. “We recognize that last week’s weather-related closures may have inconvenienced some of our job seekers; these extra hours will help accommodate those needing to register for work and conduct job search activities.”
